At Fanjoy we are always seeking innovative, bright and ambitious volunteers to join our community. We are revolutionizing how mental health services are provided to Youth & Families and by volunteering you can be part of this exciting adventure.

By volunteering with Fanjoy, you will make an impact on Youth, Families and contribute directly to your community. Whether it is by helping us through our Fanjoy Junior Chef program or our maintenance and administrative positions, your time will be valued and appreciated. You will learn skills at Fanjoy that will help you through each stage of your lifetime and career. Here, we prioritize your personal growth and place strong value on giving back in the community.

Our volunteer positions take into consideration that you have your own life- and life changes from time to time. All our positions are open for different amounts of time commitment and your time and contribution will be constantly appreciated. Junior Chef Mentors

What is Junior Chef?

Junior Chef is a 3 hour/week, 4 week intensive and innovative cooking program for youth where they can learn new skills and foster creativity in a group environment. Junior Chef offers an alternative to the classic talk-model therapeutic group that is more accessible to youth in need. To learn more about the Junior Chef programs, click here!

What is a Junior Chef Mentor?

Junior Chef Mentors are excitable and passionate volunteers who guide and support junior chef participants during Junior Chef. Junior Chef Mentors are positive role models who cook with participants and provide both one-on-one and group support during cooking classes.

What do Junior Chef Mentors Do?

  • Participate in hands-on therapeutic cooking sessions, working both one-on-one as well as with a group of Junior Chef participants ages 13-26 for 3 hours a week for 4 week pods
  • Provide authentic encouragement to Junior Chefs, encouraging youth to see their successes and progress
  • Contribute to the creation of an inclusive, safe and positive environment for all Junior Chef Participants that acknowledges the diverse experiences of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC youth
  • Be a positive and encouraging role model
  • May be paired up one-on-one with youth or asked to help run therapeutic cooking groups, March Break camps or summer camps

Building Maintenance Volunteers

What is a Building Maintenance volunteer?

Building maintenance volunteers are experienced tradespeople looking to give back to their community. Building maintenance volunteers assist with the buildings needs in order to keep our programs running smoothly. Building maintenance volunteers are vital to our community here at Fanjoy.

What do Building Maintenance Volunteers do?

  • Perform basic repairs for the building, such as plumbing, electrical fixtures, broken appliances and other minor repairs
  • Provide maintenance to interior and exterior of building, painting, carpentry, clean-up and new equipment installation
  • Identify and report need for repairs
  • Must have previous experience with basic maintenance tasks, knowledge in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  • Opportunity to mentor or teach youth in our Junior Chef pre-employment program

Administrative and Office Volunteers

What is an Administrative and Office Volunteer?

Administrative Volunteers are integral members of our Fanjoy community that keep us organized! Administrative volunteers are self-drive and organized people who help us with general assistant work, bookkeeping, intake, scheduling and beyond! This position is a great resume builder for young professionals hoping to enter the administrative field or retired folks looking to give back!

Kitchen Assistant

What is a Kitchen Assistant?

Kitchen Assistants are volunteers who have experience working in the kitchen/restaurant industry. Kitchen assistants help with the maintenance of our Fanjoy Gourmet-to-Go program as well as maintaining our kitchen.

What do Kitchen Assistants do?

  • Behind-the-scenes facilitation and set-up of Junior Chef cooking programs through kitchen maintenance, food prep and support.
  • Help to maintain clean kitchen space (wash work stations, meat blocks, cupboards, walls and appliances, clean kitchen work areas)
  • Become a dishpit god/goddess
  • Assist in keeping kitchen work areas clean and orderly
  • Assist with upkeep and maintenance of Gourmet-to-Go programs

Driving Volunteers

What is a Driving Volunteer?

Driving volunteers are licensed drivers with access to their own vehicles. Driving volunteers work with us at Fanjoy as needed to deliver Gourmet-to-Go meals and run errands.

What do Driving Volunteers Do?

  • Make Gourmet-to-Go and other Fanjoy deliveries as needed
  • Run errands for company in preparation for programs
  • Represent the Fanjoy brand in community by offering quality service with a positive attitude
